Social Media in Public Relations
The site has a great set up for news releases. It is different from the traditional because it is very media centered. It is simple and very easy to navigate. If I was a journalist, I would like the simplicity and how it is very updated with today's social media. They make posts that are throughout the whole year and is constantly keeping their audience informed. The best part of the site is how it bolds certain stories because of the ranking they think their audience wil find the most appealing. This news site is a great example of what a good new release site.

When it comes to any brand or product, they all have one thing in common and that is an audience of some sort. For example, Toys R Us usually has kids and parents that they target. Kohl's usually targets men and women over 25. Forever 21's targeted audience would be teens and milenials. When it comes to the store Target, here are two personas of people that would be ideal to shop there. The teenage girl would be an obvious one since they can get anything from clothes to make-up to jewelry and everything at Target is usually "in". The social channels I would use would mainly be Instagram and Twitter. Twitter would give short information for the teenage girl, and they would also most likely see anything that is posted since Twitter is popular in this age group. Same goes for Instagram by posting pictures of new sales since the teen will notice a discount since their income is usually not very high at that age, The other persona would be a mother of any kind. Target has any kind of needs such as groceries, clothes, games, home decor, and many more that the average mother would need. I would use Facebook and commercials as this channel because Facebook is the most common for mothers over 30. Also, usually having commercials is a good channel to speak to them since they will watch TV to relax or the TV will be on in the background of whatever their children are watching, These are just two of the many different people that shop at target but channeling the audience for Target is a huge key in their success. If you ask me, they don't seem to have any problems with it either! I think that a great podcast is "Tell Me Something I Don't Know". I really enjoyed listening to it because it has different themes each podcasts involving celebrity guests as well as professionals. It is funny and really easy to listen too. Since it is like a game show, you get to play along as well. The reasoning it works as a podcast is because you don't need to see what is happening. By using your own imagination is great to go with this type of media. I love picturing what is happening because it is like your own scenarios. This is a new podcast that has made the top charts already and only has two posts, but posts each week. They have a 4.5 star rating on Apple Podcasts. To listen to one episode, click here! #IDK
Listed below are three images that I think represented a brand well. They all have in common that they are not necessarily telling you to go out and buy their product in writing, but the images themselves can be easy for their audience to relate too. Coca Cola: This was an image found on Facebook that was promoting their soda. What I liked is how they used #NationalSandwichDay as an excuse to post about a soda. A lot of people love sandwiches and bought sandwiches on that day. The key is that this probably put the idea in their heads that washing down their sandwich with a coke would be very refreshing, therefore, selling their product. A lot of responses were about how they were craving a Coke and their love for their product. Pepsi: The caption on this post that was found on Instagram says "If you were waiting on a sign, this is it". Their is no actual product in this post, but the caption is all it needed to really sell it. The majority of the posts described the love for Pepsi. This also is great because scrolling through your timeline and seeing this, almost anyone would take it as a "sign" and get a Pepsi. Amazon: The third brand I thought did a great job with social media was Amazon with this Instagram post. The picture of the dog in a UPS costume was perfect because it is discussing how people are going to need fast shipment for the "Howl-idays". Posts that responded to the picture were very positive, which I think should be because of how simple and cute it was! Bud Light Commercial- Here We Go
I decided to go with one of my favorite commercials because I think Bud Light does a fantastic job when it comes to their ads for their beer. None of their commercials actually say "Buy my product", but that is because it will sell itself. In this commercial, it brings entertainment and actually helps rescue dogs get adopted. There were some comments that thought of it as animal abuse, however, most reviews were the same as mine and thought it was clever. I also like how they incorporated the slogan into a dog's name that became repeated enough to embed it in your brain, but not enough to annony you. I personally just thought this was a great example of good advertising, #HereWeGo

LOUIS (Oct. 2, 2016)- St. Louis Cardinals fall short to making post season play this year for the first time since 2010. The “Comeback Cards” couldn’t fulfill that name, but they certainly didn’t go without a fight. They won their last four games and had hope to advancing, but it just wasn’t enough. While it may be different not seeing those Red Birds on TV, their amazing fans will still love them and starting the countdown until April. Not only was it sad to hear about Cardinal Nation ending too soon, as did losing their beloved Matt Holiday is one heck of a ball player. “This team has meant so much to me and it not going to be easy to leave them and the fans” Matt Holiday says while tearing up. St. Louis is known for their fans and while they are sad to see Holiday leave the Cardinals, they are grateful for all of his success. He did have a bad thumb injury this season, however, it didn’t show when hitting his home run in Friday’s game. “We gave it all and this year it just wasn’t enough. Holliday is a great player and he will be missed by many” Coach Mike Matheny says about Holliday in an interview after the game today. Number 7 certainly left Cardinals on a great note and emotions have been everywhere this week. St. Louis is ready to transfer their energy to the Blues and hope they will get the chance bring home that Stanley Cup. Boilerplate. #CardinalNationLove #CantWinEmAll #HatsOffToHolliday |
